| dc.description | William R. Putnam, born in Connecticut, son of Rufus Putnam, studied for the ministry, but because of poor health, turned to farming and surveying. At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Company of Associates on November 17, 1794, he was appointed a surveyor for the Company. This document, in three parts tied together, includes field notes of his survey of townships 8 and 9 in federal survey range 14, the two townships in the Ohio Company's purchase allotted to a university. | en_US |
