A native of Hartford, Connecticut, Abel Mathews, arrived in Marietta, Ohio, in 1788. With his wife and children, he lived at the Point (the eastern bank of the Muskingum River at its confluence with the Ohio). In late 1788, he surveyed the bank of the Ohio from federal survey range 9 south/southwest to an unknown point. This book contains his rough field notes. |
