dc.description Putnam refers to an agreement with the Commandant of Post Vincennes by which Indian prisoners were returned "this day" to their brothers. He assures the Indians gathered at Vincennes that he has respectfully buried one of their chiefs who has died, and he directs the Indians who are at Vincennes to retire to their village up the river until the other chiefs arrive at Vincennes. en_US
