Description: Pickering writes that although he was appointed to the war department, he occasionally functions as Postmaster General, since no one has yet been appointed to that office. He describes the arrangements he has made for the carrying of the mail from Pittsburgh to Fort Washington, and states that he is "solicetores" of committing the whole business to Putnam's direction.
