| dc.description |
Rufus Putnam, was an early advocate of bounty land in the Ohio Country for veterans of the American Revolution. Holder of a share in the Ohio Company of Associates, and superintendent of the Company's affairs in the West, he arrived at the future Marietta, Ohio, with the first party of settlers in 1788. His first duty was to provide for surveying the Company's land holdings. An experienced surveyor, he himself began the task four days after his arrival. This document is a continuation of field notes begun in his Survey book A, parts of federal survey ranges 7 and 9. |
