| dc.description |
Putnam writes from Marietta, Ohio, that he "never had the least expectation of obtaining an alowence [sic] from Congress for the 20 mile squares [of land] we appropriated for public use," but he hopes some provision has been made for leasing the college, school, and ministerial lands. Immigrants are pouring into the western country. The Indians are constantly at Marietta to trade and they behave in a friendly manner at the college settlement. Comments on the "Disorganized Democrats." |
