Title: Petition of the Directors of the Ohio Company to Congress, March 2, 1792
Author: Ohio Company (1786-1796)
Description: Rufus Putnam, Manasseh Cutler, and Robert Oliver, Directors of the Ohio Company, presented this petition to Congress requesting that the price per acre of their purchase be reduced from $1.00 to 22 cents, in view an act of Congress having reduced the price per acre of government land. The Ohio Company's second installment on their purchase was due, the Company was unable to pay, and without relief from Congress the Company's land must be forfeited. The petition includes a history of the Company and of settlement in the purchase.
