Description: Putnam, writing from Adelphi [i.e. Marietta] remarks that he expects a treaty with the Indians in July. At present, there are "a few lawless Banditts" on the Scioto, but the Delawares and Wyandots visit the settlement almost every day. Prudent for families to come to Ohio in spring and summer. Describes the early surveying of the settlement and vicinity; describes the journey of first party of settlers; comments on the conveying of letters and the increase of expenses beyond calculation.
