Title: Levi Whipple surveyors field notes - A
Author: Whipple, Levi, 1773-1845
Description: Levi Whipple, a native of New Braintree, Massachusetts, came to Marietta, Ohio, alone and on foot, in 1794 or 1795. In 1803, he was one of the original proprietors of the town of Spring Hill (later named Putnam), on the west bank of the Muskingum River above Marietta. This document compresses his field notes of a survey (William R. Putnam's?) of township 3, federal survey range 8.
