| dc.description |
The creator of this document was doubtless the Benjamin Franklin Stone who was the son of Israel Stone of Rutland, Massachusetts. The Stone family arrived in Marietta, Ohio, in 1790, and later moved up the Muskingum River to Rainbow. Benjamin Stone attended Muskingum Academy for a short time about 1800, and there learned surveying. From 1832 to 1841 he was County Surveyor of Washington County, Ohio. These field notes were "recorded from the original field notes" of parts of federal survey range 9. |
