Title: Draft of a petition of officers in the Continental Line of the Army to the President and Delegates of the United States in Congress Assembled

Description: Draft copy of a petition, in the hand of Rufus Putnam, reminding the Congress of its promise of land to men serving in the Continental Army "who shall continue in service till the establishment of Peace," and asking that the land be located in the Ohio Country, "in time to be admited one [sic] of the confedirated [sic] states of America." A printed copy is in W. P. and J. P. Cutler, "Life, Journals and Correspondence of Rev. Manasseh Cutler" ... 1888, I, 159-167, including the names of the 288 officers who signed the petition, and also in the Cutler Collection at Marietta College.
