| Description: | William R. Putnam, born in Connecticut, son of Rufus Putnam, studied for the ministry, but because of poor health, turned to farming and surveying. At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Company of Associates on 17 November, 1794, he was appointed a surveyor for the Company. In 1795, he surveyed parts of the Company's purchase in federal survey ranges 8, 9, and 10. This documents contains his field notes. |
